Small groups are one of the key ways we can practically discover more about Jesus and learn to follow Him. These groups are designed to provide an environment where people can seek truth from the bible, learn to love each other as God has loved us and develop a stronger faith in Jesus. That is why we make it a priority to encourage all people, no matter where they are in their spiritual journey, to join a Small Group. This model of spiritual growth is taken from the life of Jesus and has been used since the beginning of the church. We all need to “meet together consistently” (Hebrews 10:25) so we can be encouraged, supported and guided in our life journey of discovering and following Jesus.
How are the groups structured?
A Small Group is made up of 8-14 people. Most nights include a time for discussion about the sermon, prayer and then dessert and hang out. Each group is led by a trained Small Group Leader who guides the discussion time, helps with questions and plans the meetings and activities.
How Long Does a Group Last?
Small Groups run in 8-10 week semesters starting in September and ending in May. After each semester people have an opportunity to discontinue or change to a different Small Group.
Which Group Should I Join?
Whatever works best for you. Join a group with people you know or meet new people!! You can also speak with one of our pastors or Small Group Leaders to get a feel for what each group is like and which group would be a good fit.
What is the Required Commitment?
Consistent attendance is vital during each semester. Though unforeseen situations may happen, attending at least 80% of the time is expected in order for the group to gel together.
What About Childcare?
Small Groups are for adults only. Exceptions are made for nursing newborns up to six months. If you are in need of child care and do not have any options, please contact Angelee McDougall at angmcdougall@yahoo.com for assistance.
What Will We Study and Talk About?
The studies are based on the previous weekend's teaching. Each week there will be a series of Bible passages and questions to study and complete before your meeting. The homework is included on the back of the note sheet found in your program and usually takes 20 to 30 minutes to complete.
